Study the traditional South Indian Vedic chart alongside your Yoga practice. Enter a birth date, time and place — the tool computes the Sidereal Rasi Chakra (D1), Navamsa (D9), Nakshatra, Lagnam, Vimshottari Dasha and classical Doshas — live in your browser.
This page is provided for educational purposes only. Jyotisha (Vedic astrology) is one of the six Vedangas — the classical companion disciplines to the Vedas — alongside Yoga, Nirukta, Chandas, Vyakarana and Kalpa. Traditionally, students of Yoga study Jyotisha to understand the cosmological framework their practice sits within.
The results shown here are traditional interpretations drawn from classical Tamil astrological texts. They are not medical, financial, legal, or life advice, and are not a substitute for professional consultation. For matters requiring precise computation (muhurta, marriage matching, remedial rituals), please consult a qualified Jyotisha professional with proper Swiss Ephemeris software.
Accuracy note: the browser engine uses simplified Keplerian astronomy suitable for study. Rasi (Moon sign) and Nakshatra placements are reliable across the 20th–21st century — these are the primary values of a Vedic chart. The Lagnam (Ascendant) is exquisitely sensitive to birth-time precision and can differ by up to one sign at borderlines: if your Lagnam matters for a specific decision, please confirm it with a qualified Jyotisha professional using Swiss Ephemeris software. Borderline nakshatra results (within the last or first pada) should likewise be treated as guidance.
In the classical Indian curriculum, the six Vedangas ("limbs of the Veda") were studied together as one integrated discipline. A yoga student was expected to learn:
Jyotisha (from Sanskrit jyoti = light, isha = lord — "the science of light") teaches a yogi to understand time. When is the auspicious hour for practice? When does the season shift? Which lunar phase best supports pranayama, and which supports rest? These questions cannot be answered by asana alone — they require the sky.
This is why every classical yoga lineage — Patanjali, Iyengar, Vethathiri Maharishi, Bihar School — teaches its senior students at least the basics of Jyotisha. The Nakshatra you were born under, your Rasi (Moon sign) and your Lagnam (rising sign) are considered part of understanding where in nature you stand.
SEGA offers this tool so students of Yoga in the alliance can explore that framework in one click, side by side with their asana and pranayama practice — without needing to leave for a third-party astrology site. All computation happens in your browser; no birth data ever leaves your device.
Sidereal calculation · Lahiri Ayanamsha applied · Whole-sign house system.
Doctors, midwives and hospital staff rarely write the birth time to the exact minute. Most record the nearest 5, 10 or 15 minutes — that rounding is often enough to shift the Lagnam into the next sign. If a Guru or astrologer previously gave you a different Lagnam, use the quick controls below to rectify.
Each button adjusts the birth time and instantly re-computes the whole chart.
Peninsular Malaysia used UTC+7:30 before 1 Jan 1982 (not +8). Similar historical shifts exist for many countries. Scroll up to the form, pick your birth location's IANA timezone from the "⚙ Historical timezone" dropdown, then hit Compute Jyotisha Chart again — the engine will use the exact offset in force on your birth date.
The birth chart. Signs sit in the traditional South Indian fixed layout; planets and Lagna (⟨Lg⟩) fill their placement boxes.
The 9-fold subdivision. Traditionally used to study marriage, spiritual maturity and the finer expression of the natal chart.
| Graha | Rasi | Degree | Nakshatra · Pada | Navamsa | House |
|---|
Rahu & Ketu are computed from the Moon's mean node. Houses use the whole-sign system counted from the Lagnam.
Every Nakshatra in the Tamil astrological tradition is mapped to a sacred Animal, Bird, Tree, temperament class (Ganam) and animal-energy pair (Yoni). These totems are used in marriage compatibility matching and in choosing puja materials.
Ganam (Deva · Manushya · Rakshasa) describes your temperament class. Yoni — the animal energy — is compared with a prospective partner's Yoni in traditional marriage matching (Yoni Kuta, 4 of the 36 Guna Milan points).
The five-limbed calendar (Pancha-Anga) records the sacred qualities of the day and hour. Traditional Tamil astrologers read these together with the birth chart.
Sunrise/Sunset for your birth location: —
Think of your chart as a theatre with 12 stages (Bhavas). Each stage represents a specific theme of your life — wealth, marriage, career, health, etc. The planets are the actors. When a planet sits in a house, it focuses its energy on that area of your life.
What if a house shows "no planets"? Don't worry — an empty house simply means no complex planetary traffic sits there. That area of your life will function normally and peacefully without heavy planetary interference. Traditional astrologers then look at the "landlord" (the ruling planet of that sign) to see how the theme unfolds.
In the Jaimini system, the seven planets (excluding Rahu/Ketu) are ranked by their degree-in-sign. The highest-degree planet becomes your Atma Karaka (soul indicator); the second becomes Amatya Karaka (career/intellect); and so on. This is separate from Tamil Parasara reading and gives an independent lens on your dharma.
Tamil astrologers scan the chart first for Ucham (exalted, peak power), Neecham (debilitated, needs remedy), and Atchi (own house, stable). This scan flags every planet's dignity state.
Ucham = ✨ exalted (peak power) · Neecham = ⚠ debilitated · Atchi = 🏛 own sign · Neutral = normal function.
"Vimshottari" = 120 — the idealised 120-year lifespan divided into 9 planetary periods that always run in the same fixed order (Ketu → Venus → Sun → Moon → Mars → Rahu → Jupiter → Saturn → Mercury). Your starting Mahadasha depends on your birth Nakshatra, and each period is a different chapter of life with its own psychological theme.
| Mahadasha lord | Approx. start (year) | Approx. end (year) | Duration |
|---|
Approximate years computed from your Moon's remaining Nakshatra fraction at birth. For precise dasha dates (day/month accuracy), consult a professional with Swiss Ephemeris software.
The Vimshottari system divides each Mahadasha into 9 sub-periods, each ruled by one of the 9 planetary lords. Duration = (MD_years × AD_years) / 120. This zoom shows exactly which sub-period is active week to week.
| Sub-lord | Start (year) | End (year) | Duration |

Compares today's transiting Moon to your birth Nakshatra. Traditional 9-Tara system: some days are auspicious for action, others favour rest.
The transiting Moon is currently in the 8th sign from your natal Moon. Traditional teaching: avoid major financial, legal or relationship decisions for the next ~48 hours. Focus on routine, rest and inner practice.
Green = auspicious for action · Yellow = mixed · Red = rest / avoid launches. Chandrashtama days (8th from natal Moon) are flagged with 🌑.
Traditional Tamil astrologers divide each day's daylight into 8 parts and assign three specific windows: Rahu Kalam (inauspicious for new starts), Yama Gandam (stalls / failure), and Kuligai (repeating actions — good for investments, bad for medical treatments). All times shown in your birth location's local time.
Enter a prospective partner's Nakshatra and Rasi. The engine runs the 10 classical Tamil Kuta compatibility tests and returns an overall score plus Dosham neutralisation status.
The quick check below uses only Nakshatra + Rasi. If you also enter Partner B's full birth details (date, time and location) in the "Deep Synastry" panel below, the engine will run a full dual-chart analysis — 7th House divorce indicators, 5th House Santhana Bakyam (children potential), Chevvai Dosham cancellation logic, and Dasha Sandhi timeline sync (identifying stressful transition years for both partners).
| Kuta test | Result | Note |

Provide Partner B's full birth details to unlock a deeper reading. This produces a five-pillar analysis: 7th House (Kalatra — divorce risk), 5th House (Putra — Santhana Bakyam / children), Chevvai Dosham cancellation, and Dasha Sandhi timeline sync.
Scans your chart for debilitated planets and heavy stelliums (3+ planets in one house). Each alert maps to the anatomical zone that traditionally receives extra strain, and prescribes the corrective asana + SEGA-Tariff difficulty. Educational only — not medical advice.
Ayur Jyotisha maps planetary vulnerabilities directly to the musculoskeletal system. Isolates your structural stress-point and links to the SEGA AI Judge for real-time biomechanical verification.
Each Mahadasha lord governs specific body systems and lifestyle triggers. The engine cross-references your current and upcoming Mahadasha with a medical-science database, and flags HIGH RISK when the lord occupies the 6th (Ripu), 8th (Ayus) or 12th (Vyaya) Dusthana house. Educational only — always consult your doctor.
SAV (Sarvashtakavarga) is the total structural strength of each Rasi — 28+ bindus = strong (absorbs stress), < 25 = weak (amplifies stress). BAV is per-planet strength. A truly advanced chart is read by combining transit position with the underlying bindu score.
| Planet | Total bindus | Notable strong Rasis (≥ 5) |
|---|
Grand total across the chart: — / 337 (Parashari maximum).
The bindu count of specific house pairs from your Lagnam reveals structural patterns in wealth flow, effort-vs-fortune, independence-vs-partnership, plus the strongest and weakest areas of your chart.
Each day divides into 24 dynamic Orais — 12 during daylight, 12 during night. The length of an Orai expands and contracts with sunrise/sunset, so it is not a fixed 60-minute clock hour. The first Orai of the day is always ruled by the Lord of the Day; the eternal sequence then loops Sun → Venus → Mercury → Moon → Saturn → Jupiter → Mars.
Jupiter (Guru) and Saturn (Sani) are the two slow-moving planets that dictate multi-year karmic themes. This dashboard checks their live positions against your natal Moon sign — and cross-references each with your Ashtakavarga bindus, so a "dreaded" phase like Ashtama Sani gets automatically neutralised when the house has strong foundational bindus.
Yogas are powerful overrides in your chart. Even when a planet is weak or debilitated, a strong Yoga can completely reverse the negative effects and elevate the native to massive success. This scanner checks 5 of the most influential Tamil-tradition Yogas.
Every classical Jyotisha module explained in modern business language — psychological reflexes, evolutionary biology, execution bandwidth, predictive timelines, environmental friction, load-testing, daily operations, and compatibility. Then three live corporate tools: the Corporate Entity Matrix, the PDF Executive Dossier, and the Geodetic Expansion audit.
Enter the exact date and time of incorporation (e.g. when the SSM certificate was officially issued). The engine calculates the structural health of the business entity itself, separately from the human founder.
Planning to open an international branch, register a foreign entity, or relocate? Select a global business hub. The engine recomputes your chart for that exact latitude / longitude / timezone to reveal which planetary lines govern that city.
Before signing a contract or agreeing to scope of work, input the prospective client's astrological signature. The engine extracts their geometric impact on your revenue — 11H Cash Cow, 12H Resource Drain, 6H Demanding Rival, 8H Volatile Contract, 10H Reputation Builder, 5/9H Synergistic Partner.
Enter up to 4 potential business partners. Pick the Anchor (CEO) using the radio button. The system flags synergy trines, open rivalry axes, and the notorious 12th-house backstabbers.
Select a strategic action. The engine identifies the ruling planetary hour (Orai), filters out Rahu Kalam / Yama Gandam, and gives a 48-hour execution window for domain registrations, ad launches, contract signings, patent filings, and more.

A quick reference to the Tamil / Sanskrit Jyotisha terms used throughout this tool.
Each rasi carries an element: Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), Air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius), Water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces). This is a rough profile — a useful lens for choosing complementary yoga, pranayama and dietary practice.
Understanding your Nakshatra is the beginning. Bringing that understanding into your breath and asana practice — under a teacher's eye — is what makes it real.
