Rules & Judging Standards

How the SEGA Intercontinental Yoga Alliance evaluates every performance — the same objective standard for every athlete, in every country.

The Foundation

Three dimensions. One score.

Every competitive yogasana performance is evaluated by the SEGA AI Judge System (Patent Pending PI2026005219) on three biometric dimensions. Uncertain cases are escalated to certified Master Judges. Verified results feed the World Ranking and the Book of Records.

Execution

Alignment and form of each pose, measured against the reference model in the SEGA judging syllabus. Small deviations from the standard reduce the execution score proportionally.

Stability

Balance and hold across the full duration of the pose. Micro-movements the human eye cannot reliably detect are captured biometrically. Wobbles reduce the stability score.

Difficulty

The official difficulty rating from the SEGA judging syllabus. Every asana carries a set rating — the multiplier applied to the raw execution × stability score to arrive at the final mark.

Divisions

Categories of competition

Yogasana

The core discipline — classical asanas performed for AI biometric evaluation. Contested at both National and International division levels.

Chakra-thon

Timed sequence performance judged on speed and precision. Lower time wins — but stability and form still count toward the final score.

Acro Yoga

Partnered and small-group formations, evaluated on execution, stability, coordination and difficulty. Contested across all age brackets.

Age & Gender Categories

How athletes are grouped

Ranking is calculated within an athlete's gender × age category — the standard practised at UYSF, IYSF and Asian Yoga Federation events. Athletes compete only against peers of equivalent age and gender.

Age 5-8

Beginner competitive division for young practitioners. Simplified asana list and reduced complexity ratings.

Age 9-11 · 12-14

Developing athletes. Full asana list with age-adjusted difficulty scaling. Most participation happens in these brackets.

Age 15-17 · 18-49 · 50+

Senior youth, open and masters divisions. Full syllabus with un-adjusted difficulty.

The World Ranking

How the World Ranking is calculated

Inspired by professional badminton. Every athlete's total is: their best International AI-judged score, plus points earned at every sanctioned international tournament they attend.

Grade 2 — Major Physical (e.g. Goa, India)Up to 150 points (Gold: 150 · Silver: 120 · Bronze: 80 · Participation: 25)
Grade 3 — Regional Physical (e.g. Thailand)Up to 130 points (Gold: 130 · Silver: 100 · Bronze: 60 · Participation: 20)

UYSFUniversal Yoga Sports Federation
IYSFInternational Yoga Sports Federation
Asian Yoga FederationRegional Asian championships

Only international tournaments contribute to World Ranking points. National events are not counted. Additional federations may be added as we review each tournament against the international standard. All points subject to review by the SEGA Intercontinental Yoga Alliance and UYSF community.

Fair Play

Conduct & integrity

Athletes

Athletes must complete registration truthfully, submit their own performances only, and respect competition rules and officials. Any impersonation, tampering with recordings, or repeated attempts to game the AI evaluation may result in disqualification.

Media & Consent

Athletes and, where applicable, parents or guardians consent at registration to public display of name, photo, state, country, age category and results. Full details (contact, IC, date of birth, school) remain private and are never published. Requests to remove any athlete from public listings are honoured on request.

Judging Appeals

Where an AI-judged score is contested, the case is escalated to certified Master Judges for manual review. Final decision rests with the Chief Judge and the SEGA Intercontinental Yoga Alliance Technical Committee.

Anti-Doping

Aligned with international sport standards. Performance-enhancing substance use is prohibited at all sanctioned events. Athletes competing on the world stage may be subject to testing.
